India reinforced its global sporting partnerships as Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a high-level meeting with a New Zealand delegation to expand bilateral sports cooperation. The discussions come as 2026 marks 100 years of sporting ties between the two nations, dating back to the historic 1926 Indian Army hockey tour. Both sides explored collaboration in key disciplines such as rugby, athletics, rowing, and cycling, along with initiatives like joint training and knowledge exchange. The proposed India–New Zealand Sports Cooperation Programme aims to deepen engagement and strengthen sports diplomacy between the two countries.
